With the snow falling during its regular Monday afternoon meeting, the Board of Supervisors agreed to postpone the public hearings which « were originally scheduled for that evening until Monday evening, Feb. 4, its next regular meeting.
The hearings will cover a series of amendments to the county’s zoning ordinances, including several that involve family subdivisions. They were previously voted on at the November meeting, but the vote was challenged because more than 21 days had passed since the last advertisement of the hearing. So the amendments were readvertised for a hearing last Monday.
Commonwealth Attorney Peter Luke told the supervisors would not have to readvertise again if all interested parties jwere notified of the new date.
Robert Metcalfe’s application for a rezoning for property he owns in Flint Hill was also postponed until February.During
the time for public comment, Newbill Miller presented the supervisors with an unusual problem.
He said he hadLbeen notified by a friend that an ojd roster of Rappahannock’s Civil War veterans was going to be^fuctioned off as part of an estate^by an auction house north of Winchester. He went to the auc' t«jn and bought the four-page listing with the intention of donating it to the county’s historical society.
