Mr. McCarthy noted that in the -face of strong local 'opposition the Department of Waste Management has “backed off’ on Secretary of Natural Resources Elizabeth Haskell’s proposal to impose high fees for landfill applications.
Jackson District representative Ellis Bingham said that the State Water Control Board and the state agency that oversees air quality are now going to try imposing such fees, and the Department of Waste Management might De back with the -fees, depending on how successful the other agencies are.
The supervisors also made appointments to the Board of Assessors, which will review the reassessment now going on and hear appeals from landowners.
