Funds from the Federal government for education of the disadvantaged have been higher than estimated when the budget was prepared. Some programs in the main budget were shifted to the Chapter One budget.
However, funds from the state, excluding the retirement system refund, are also lower than anticipated.
Dr. Gangel said he still hopes to replace the fuel oil tank. “We’ve got to do something,” he said. “We can’t get insurance after it runs out next fall.” He said Jhe might replace it with a series of smaller underground tanks rather than a large one in a vault because that would be the least expensive way to deal with the problem.
“We’ll get through it somehow,” Dr. Gangel added. “We’re going to do our best. We’ll still have a good program here.”
