'The Freshman' at theatre

The movie “The Freshman” will be the feature attraction at the Gay St. Theatre this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9 and 10. In this quirky sleeper, the best surprises are the appearance of the long-absent Marlon Brando, in his first starring role in a decade, and his comic charisma and chemistry with co-star Matthew Broderick. Broderick plays Clark Kellogg, a wary but green NYU film school freshman who is in New York fully 19 minutes and 11 seconds when he talks to a stranger and ends up losing everything he owns. The movie is rated PG-13 and showtime is 7:30 p.m. each evening.

Tony Rice returns Feb. 15

Tony Rice will appear in concert on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Wakefield School Auditorium in Rappahannock County at 8 p.m. Considered the premiere guitarist in the country at this time, Tony Rice first came to prominence in the ’60s with J.D. Crowe and helped to create the eclectic “Dawg” music with David Grisman. This concert, featuring Tony Rice and the Confederate Agents, will be music at its best. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For ticket information call RAAC at (703) 675-3193.
