Washabaue’s request for this meeting was prompted, in part, by an editorial appearing in the Richmond Times-Dispatch concerning my “alternative” budget package. My office presented Ms. Washabaue with the figures and methodology of my budget.
On Friday, Secretary of Finance, Paul Timmerck, briefed me and our caucus on the impact and status of the literary fund transfer bill and the associated bond issue.
Tuesday, Feb. 5 was “Crossover” deadline. All of the House of Delegates bills must be acted on by the legislators and passed over to the Senate by that date. In order for the legislature to meet its “crossover” deadline, the House met throughout the weekend to finish our respective legislation. Due to the large amount of legislation and the limited duration of this session, most of my time has been spent in late night committee meetings and in lengthy floor debates.
Last week I received visits from many local constituent groups, including teachers PTA, AFL/CIO, Nurse practitioners, Federal Retirees and Fire-Fighters. All wish
