She took several years off in the mid-’80s before opening Mountainside at its present location on Gay. Street in Washington, Va. in December, 1987. As Ms. Ross has young children at home, a new manager was hiyed this year, Kathy Edwards, and she has put her own touch on the store with her interest in macrobiotic foods.
