problem here in Rappahannock County and some quick calculations of the money to be saved divided by the total population of the U.S. and then multiplied by the population of our county showed that the money to be saved right here would be $12. Since these jobs over the years have sent a lot of kids through school, I say go for it! If the rest of the county doesn’t want to spend the money, Mr. Allen, I will put up the $12. As a matter of fact, we’ll pay for your whole territory.
Another thought on the subject was that Congress would have to pay for special training to teach congressmen how to run these technical automatic elevators and hire someone on each floor to guide them to their offices.
If the Hon. Mr. Allen sent one copy of the questionnaire to each voter in our county and each voter replied, the postage woulchamount to about $900—not counting the cost of printing. We suggest that next time he just apply that saving to the national debt instead.
Also noted in his maiden speech other than viewing with alarm things in general and pointing with pride to himself was an invitation to the entire Congress to a party. He added that it was paid for. This made me feel uneasy and I subconsciously felt to see if my wallet was still there.
