his other outlet.

“Since moving on full time at The Conyers House I’ve acquired two other roles,” explained Mr. Cartwright-Brown. He constantly shows property to guests interested in the county and thus uses his Realtor’s license. He is also a celebrant of the rites of marriage for the commonwealth.

The Conyers House, referred to as being particularly “genuine” in one of the many guidebooks, is enjoying a reputation for being an “innkeeper’s inn.”

“We eryoy having a large number of guests who have successful inns themselves and come here for a respite,” said Mr. Cartwright-Brown.

Each B&B or inn takes on its own personality if it stays in business a few years. There is one in the county with extensive gardens and great views, others in a town within walking distance of a famous restaurant.

The Conyers House reputation has evolved to include the horses, relatively rare among country inns, lots of fireplaces in an historic house, a very friendly canine greeting committee and fireside, candlelit sevencourse dinners.

When asked about future plans for The Conyers House, both Cartwright-Browns shrugged and mentioned the seminAr, another Moveable Feast involving seven additional B&B’s in April, and “soon we’ll build a cabin on the mountain in Madison; it’s always something."
