At last week's meeting council members learned that the town’s plans have won health department approval and the town can now request bids for replacing leaking water pipes. Treasurer Brad Fisher said water lines in Main Street, Gay Street and Mount Salem Avenue will be replaced.
Council accepted the resignation of Evelyn Willis from the Architectural Review Board. Brad Fisher, acting as chairman with Mayor Dean Morehouse absent, asked council members to bring nominations for a replacement to the August meeting.
Ms. Bruce noted that the Washington Ladies’ Auxiliary had paid off the mortgage for the Washington Fire Department and Rescue Squad building.
