The Planning Commission accepted the plan and design guidelines for the general commercial zone located along U.S. 522-211 between Washington and Sperryville at last Wednesday’s meeting.
County Administrator John McCarthy explained that this plan is the first of several the planners and Board of Supervisors want to have developed. The county hopes next to develop area plans for each of the village areas in the county.
Along the north side of U.S. 522211 the general commercial area runs for about sixth-tenths of a mile from Wolf Mountain Traders on the east to the Faith Mountain mail order business on the west. The designated area is shorter on the south side, running from a point across from Wolf Mountain Traders to Route 636, the road leading to the county elementary school, a distance of about a quarter of a mile.
The plan is designed to prevent the area from developing as a narrow strip of commercial sites along the highway. On both sides the area designated for future commercial
