She and her husband had owned and operated a general store on Rt. 231 in Spejryville before retiring eight years ago. She was a member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church in Culpeper.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Gordon; a son, Harvey Gordon III of Daytona Beach; a daughter, Julia Ann Gordon of Culpeper; a brother, Robert Watts of Washington and two grandchildren.
Funeral services 1 were held Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the Kyger and Trobaugh Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Burial was in the Elk Run Cemetery at Elkton.
Pallbearers were Junior L. Sisk, David L. Sisk, Frankie Lewis, Vernon Lawson, Johnny Gordon, Jerry Gordon and Jackie Gordon.
Christine Wharton
Christine Virginia Wharton, 81, of Washington, died Monday, Aug. 24 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Wharton was bom June 27, 1911 in Bronxs, N.Y., the daughter of the late Beryamin and Elizabeth Swartz Hedrick.
She was a member of Washington Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gibson L. Wharton; a son, Lloyd R. Cowne of Manassas; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a sister, Mildred MacKay of Annapolis, Md.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Washington Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Bare officiating. Burial was in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stephen Cowne, Bart Cowne, Mike Brown, Bill Fletcher, Nelson Nethers, Jimmy Lillard, William Groves and Herbert Wilson Jr. ,
Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
