I almost always look forward to creating this column. I had decided a couple of weeks ago on this subject and then put it off for one reason or another. Since then I have seen the subject related by Other columnist in other major periodicals, such as The Washington Post. I hate competing but here goes!
Truth always being better than fiction I shall tell you of an experience that I had happen to me about 10 years ago when I was young and adventuresome.
My attention was drawn to the back pages of the Washingtonian Magazine where lonesome men and women advertised their persons as being available for romantic adventure. Being at the time uncommitted I decided to take a chance. 1 read many of the ads to get a feel for the style and also the abreviations. If you have never delved into the subject here are some abreviations you have to know.
ISO - In Search Of
S - Single
W - Widowed
D - Divorced , M - Married
M - Male
F - Female
So an ad which starts with DWM ISO would mean, divorced white male in search of, thereby saving $5 in line costs.
I was surpised to find two “M’s” in the ads. Evidently some (mostly male) desire to stray. However, on thinking about it, females answer these ads so they too do.
