Charles and Marianne Wilson easily won a recommendation of approval from the Planning Commission for a family apartment, but came under questioning about the meals they serve at their Thistle Hill Bed and Breakfast.
Mrs. Wilson said they proposed to use the 1,200 square-foot apartment themselves while a stepson and his wife operate Thistle Hill. The apartment cannot be used as a part of the bed and breakfast without applying for an amendment to their special use permit. The planners recommended that the Board of Zoning Appeals approve the family apartment pending Department of Health approval of plans for the septic field.
Then Wakefield District representative Werner Krebser led the questioning on meals served at the bed and breakfast. He said he understood bed and breakfast businesses could only serve breakfast to their guests, but the Wilsons are serving lunch and dinners as well as alcoholic beverages.
