She speaks of a "map for the wilderness of the soul,” but by telling what everyone has on and looks like, she had me wondering if she thinks we wear our souls on our sleeves. She is, happily, a humorous person, and you can guess she is making fun of herself when Lee Squires unaccountably gets a detail of clothing wrong, a detail that relates to the discovery of the murderer.
A Small Target begins and ends with a funeral. Between the two funerals, there were enough personal interactions of many kinds to cause me to become a more thoughtful and inquiring person than I was when I picked up the book.
