We need less meddlesome governments. We didn't see that in the widow's case. She and her husband had owned the land for many years, raised their children there, paid local taxes on it for years, "carried their investment" all those years in hopes of future income. Local (and other) governments should consider all costs of the regulatory process before restricting land use. Better, they should regulate only for public health and safety, not for "visual impact!" •

And we should ask ourselves: "Are we to remain a free people in a free country — or are we to regulate ourselves into poverty and near slavery?" as in the former USSR.
