Christmas Giving
Your neighbors who man the fire departments and rescue squads, provide scholarships so children can attend the Child Care and Learning Center, and promote the arts are hoping some holiday giving will come the way of these organizations.
Several of the fire and rescue organizations have made major purchases this year. With most operating costs covered by the county's fire levy, long delayed capital investments in replacement fire trucks and ambulances have been undertaken. The public benefits from the higher capabilities and greater reliability of this new equipment, but the squads need significant support from their communities to pay for it.
CCLC continues to provide very high quality child care, but many of the children’s families cannot afford the full cost of such care. Scholarship help has always been the solution, but that means constant fundraising. The Board of Directors has embarked on a project of establishing an endowment fund to generate the needed income for scholarships. A significant start has been made, but the income from the fund will not yet cover the costs of needed scholarships, and the gap must be closed.
The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community is engaged in a membership drive. This organization provides the monthly movies, helps to promote the arts generally and tries particularly to assist in bringing the arts to the public schools.
Our community is richer because of these organizations, and they need our continued support.
