George Vaughan
Military veteran
George “Bill” William Vaughan, 81, of Manassas died Saturday, Oct. 17 at his residence.
He was bom Sept. 18, 1917 to the late George O. Vaughan and Georgie L. Wilson Vaughan.
Mr. Vaughan received an honorable discharge from the Army on July 1, 1945. He served with the first Armored Division of the Field Artillery. Sgt. Vaughan was awarded the good conduct medal, the American defense service medal, the European, African and Middle Eastern service medal, arid the distinguished unit badge. He saw service in the campaigns of Tunisia, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Amo, North Apennines and Po Valley.
Mr. Vaughan is survived by three sisters Marjorie L. Green and Virginia M. Green, both of Culpeper and Ann E. Hanback of Manassas; six nieces and nephews, ten great nieces and nephews and six great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Ot?t. 22 at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. Kenneth F. Huneycutt officiating.
There will be full military honors presented by VFW post #2524 and American Legion post #330.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, 11310 Coles Drive, Manassas, Va. 20112 or a charity of your choice.
