Halfway through the Child Care and Learning Auction on Saturday night, John Kiser took the stage to announce his plan to help raise funds to renovate the bathrooms at the Washington School. Emerging from an outhouse onstage, he talked about the importance of decent bathrooms for the children of CCLC as well as for community citizens who attend functions at this building.
“Let’s PUSH our hands deep into our pockets tonight and see if we can do something about these inadequate bathroom facilities here. I am so serious about this project, that I intend to PUSH twice as hard as everyone else!” said John Kiser.
Mrs. McCarthy explained to the crowd that the costs of the bathroom renovations would include a men’s room, a women’s room, a handicap accessible bathroom ajid a janitor’s, closet. The projected cost of the project is $36,000.
Susan McCarthy and Auctioneer Bill Payne then proceeded to assist Mr. Kiser in soliciting donations from the crowd > donations that the Grevf Foundation pledged to match two-toone. Passing out golden plungers as incentive gifts to the donors who gave $600 or more, Mr. Kiser’s PUSH Campaign raised $11,300 from the enthusiastic crowd that evening, and to match those gifts with a donation of $22,600 from the Greve Foundation.
