Special to the Rappahannock News

Oct. 7 proved to be a brilliant autumn day, perfect for Volunteer Four’s fire and rescue picnic.

President, Frank Huff, and Assistant Chief, David Bywaters, were in charge of grilling the hot dogs and burgers “to perfection”. Company 4 members, family, friends, and surrounding fire station members were all in attendance, making this event quite a “Sunday afternoon happening”.

After the smorgasbord of pot-luck delicacies, volleyball, horseshoes, and varies other competitions commenced. Allison Russo had the dubious honor of winning the much anticipated sac race.

Different heats of the firemen’s “quick-change race” were won by Brittany Williams, Jacob Drake, Kevin Williams, and another victory for Allison Russo.

Company 4 appreciates all those that attended and look forward to seeing an even bigger turnout next year.

Special thanks also extended to Trish Bartholomew for heading the setup and cleanup committees.
