RCHS Band Director Lynn Fourier also had a music-related request for the School Board. She asked that they okay an April band trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where the band will participate in a national competition. Superintendent Gangel gave the trip his blessing, and the Board agreed.
The Battle of
Bull Run
Athletic Director Jon Smythe reported that Rappahannock County fared poorly in its quest for the 2000-2001 Bull Run Trophy, placing last amongst the seven schools in the district. Points, from 0 to 7, are awarded to each varsity team depending upon its placement in the district, and the Bull Run Trophy is awarded to the school whose varsity sports teams place best collectively. He noted that 0 points are assigned when a school does not field a team, and Rappahannock received the zero score in football, golf, cheer, and in girls and boys tennis.
