Athletic Director, and he told the Board that “I think we can do better.” He characterized himself as “an agent for change” and noted improvements in the athletic program and plans for additional changes. He said that a golf team was started this year, that the wrestling room contributed by Coach Wells was under construction, and that he hopes to start a Junior Panther (grades 6, 7 and 8) football program next fall that could grow into a varsity program, especially “if we have a donor like Coach Wells.”

Later in the meeting, Dr. Gangel reported that adding windows to the wrestling room would cost the school $11,000, and he recommended against expending those funds at the present time, and the Board agreed.

Other activities

• Mary Ann Biggs reported on a new Headwaters program designed to enhance communications on school issues with the community. This program will consist of a series of community forums at which a speaker will address a topic of concern after which a panel of experts will field questions from the audience.
