Capt. David Brown, USN
Brown lived his daring passion: to explore the universe. He died doing so, and as his parents say, he wouldn’t have wanted to die any other way.
It is here at Massie’s Comer the 46year-old astronaut used to spend hours searching those starry skies with his telescope on the patio of his parent’s mountaintop home in Washington, Va.
He flew these same skies in his updated 40-year-old Beechcraft Bonanza when he camp to visit tus father and mother, Paul and Dorothy “Dot” Brown, at their home on High Hill Lane.
He would circle his plane over his parents’ house to signal that he was there and they would rush to their car and drive to Front Royal to meet him at the airport and bring him back to their house.
