Town vacancies
Town Attorney John Bennett asked the council to approve the advertising in the Rappahannock News of two openings that exist in the town government — that of town mayor and administrative assistant. Council approved it and the notices are in this paper.
A public hearing on the mayoral vacancy will be held at the council’s Feb. 12 meeting. Council will elect a mayor following that hearing.
The council also established Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. as the closing date and time for receipt of applications for the position of town administrative , assistant.
Mr. Lynch also solicited suggestions for mayoral candidates, and said that anyone with suggestions should call any council member. He noted that any registered town voter is eligible for consideration as mayor.
