Both restaurants are members of Relais & Chateux. Chef Santamaria is president of the international Relais Gourmand group and Mr. O’Connell is president of the North American counterpart.
This past summer Mr. OConnell cooked with Chef Santamaria at his restaurant in Spain for the 30th anniversary of Relais Gourmand.
"He is a big-hearted, charming and affable chef, who speaks no English," said Mr. OConnell. With my 16 word Spanish vocabulary. . .a good time was had by all."
