We’re sure we’ll never see
this in print in the Rappahannock News. If you’re reading these comments, no one will be more surprised than the writers.
When it seemed as though, there was nothing left to be said, the calendar story reared its ugly head, again, and got uglier and sorrier. We’ve tried to stay out of this debate, however, the articles of Nov. 13 concerning the “Men of Rappahannock” calendar hit an all time new low in reporting the “news” and a different perspective needed to be stated.
For some reason, the Rappahannock News continues to beat this dead horse of a “story” and continues to add fuel to the fire. The newspaper’s ever so subtle attempt to divide the religious community is just really pathetic and the suggestion that Baptists are the prudes in the community reminds one of the persecution Christians have endured since the 1st Century, A.D.—the main difference is that we’re not tossed to the lions for sport anymore, however, we’re attacked in every other way you can name.
By the way, there was no quote from any of the ministers of the predominantly African American churches or other people of color in the community. Perhaps they’re invisible to the Rappahannock News, or perhaps, the editors don’t really
