Cooter’s Place in Sperryville is closing but not without a big farewell party. An old time country picnic will be held at Cooter's on the last weekend of November as "a nice way for us to say goodbye. . .or see you later," said Alma Viator, wife of Ben "Cooter" Jones. It will be held the weekend after Thanksgiving, starting Friday, Nov. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 30. There will be music all three days, and "lots of people are bringing covered dishes," said Viator.
