Shepherds ’ Play

It is now 12 years since Ki Theatre in Washington presented the first Shepherds' Play. As it did in the town of Oberufer on the Danube in the 14th Century, the play has become a part of a Christmas tradition in Rappahannock County. The Shepherds' Play tells the story of the three shepherds’ visit to the manager in Bethlehem after the birth of the Christ child. It does it with music and song as well as words. Performances will be on Friday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m., and Sunday. Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations may be made by calling 675-1616 and tickets may be purchased by sending a check to Ki Theatre, c/o Mahoney, 446 Long Mountain Road, Washington, VA 22747.
