This Friday, April 4, The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community < RAAC) will present the highly acclaimed film The Kite Runner. If you only come to the movies on occasion, I hope you will make this the one film you come to see. This is a review of the movie and not the fxx>k. Fans of the book will Ik- very surprised at some liberties taken by the film’s screen writer, David BeniofT, but rest assured the book’s author Khaled Hosseini (who has a cameo at the end of the film) was in collaboration the entire time.
The story follows two young boys, Amir, the privileged son of a respected wealthy Afghan, Baba, und Hassan the son of Baba's servant. The complex relationship fx-tween these boys is hard to understand from an American view. Hassan is of a lower caste and his father has fxx*n Baba's servant his entire lift*.
