Spring is here - daffodils are in full golden yellow bloom, and maple trees are sporting their rusty red blossoms. And, speaking of sporting things - how many of you have dusted off your running shoes and started practicing for this year’s Fodderstack 10K to be run on April 19? This year will be the thirtieth (tricesimus - John McCarthy is not the only one who can use long words) running of the race that starts in Flint Hill and follows the Fodderstack Road all the way to Washington. Washington is, of course, our own Washington, the original Washington, and not that upstart town of the same name in the District of Columbia. The race will start just north of the packing shed in Flint Hill (look for the voodoo-like pile of stones on the right hand side of the road as you enter town from the north), and end at the Court House in Washington. Registration will start at 8:15 a.m. in the Flint Hill Fire Hall, and the race starts at 10 a.m.
The race’s major sponsor will again be the Inn at Little Washington. They have been strong supporters of this event for many years now and we appreciate their continued generosity. The Inn’s sponsorship will provide the 300 Fodderstack 10k 2008 Tshirts that will be awarded on a “first come first serve” basis to successful runners.
