The lack of plant food was described by Dunton as probably one of the main reasons for the relatively low average yield of hay crops in the State. Dunton said a general three-year rotation of corn, small grain, and a hay crop should get at least 400 pounds per acre of fertilizer per year, or a total of 1,200 pound d on the rotation.

The recommended fertilizer analysis and the method of appli. cation will depend upon what crop is'planted, the soil in which it is planted, and the rotation uspd, he said. Farmers should i check with their county agents on- fertilizer anaylsia and application. . * * - ' ■
