bach of the boys will have an opportunity to learn to take care of himself in the out-of-doors, by practicing methods of cooking, camping, hiking and a little bit about animals and their habits. One particular phase of Scoutng that will interest the boys the most is the Merit Badge program. There are 113 different subjects available such as the following: Agriculture, beekeeping, bird study, beef production, animal industry, aeronautics, architecture, carpentry, conservation, corn farmng, dairying, electricity, farm home and its planning, farm layout and building arrangements, farm mechanics, farm records ,and bookkeeping, fingerprinting, first aid, first aid to animals, gardening, hog and pork production, horsemanship, mechanical drawing, painting, plumbing, personal health, taxidermy and many others. ■
The Scouting Movement gives the boy a swell opportunity to better know his own parents, his own neighborhood and his own country. They will have the benefit of summer camp which is just west of Winchester, along with many other outdoor experiences in^their own immediate location.
Any boys or parents of boys who are interested in this county set-up are asked to contact any one of the 'men listed above for particulars. Please remember that regardless whether the boy lives near some of his buddies, or is alone an the farm with his family, he is still definitely encouraged to be in Scouting.
Barter Grouo To Return
Rappahannock Legion Post No. 245 will sponsor the Barter Players .in- the presentation bf the mystery play, “Dangerous Corner,” to be presented in Washington High School Auditorium on Saturday, January 14, at 8 p.m.
Tickets are on sale at the Rappahannock News office, the County Agent’s office, and at the office of the Rappahannock Cold Storage.
Many people through the county who are familiar with the past performances of the Barter Players can lool*-forward to an evening of wholesome entertainment.
