Trial Justice Cases
The following cases were heard in the court ’of Trial Justice B. M. Miller: ,
Commonwealth versus J. E. Bourne: was convicted of drunken driving, at court Saturday morning, fined $100 and costs and his driver’s permit revoked for a period of 12 months. Sheriff J. M. Lillard was the arresting officer.
Commonwealth versus Clarence E. Walter of Flint Hill, case tried Monday, was convicted for driving without a (driver’s permit; fined $5 and costs. Trooper W. B. Roach was the arresting officer.
Commonwealth versus Browning Wharton for hit-and-run driving was continued until Mar. 16, on request of Attorney William F. Moffett, representing the defendant. Trooper Nicodemus of Culpeper was the prosecuting witness.
Commonwealth versus Merrill Grimsley and Emmett Wilson of Flint Hill, tried on Monday. Both parties were convicted of disorderly conduct and given a 30day suspended sentence on the condition of good behavior for a period of 12 months. Charges of disturbing public worship vjere dismissed. Horace Pullen, Jr., all charges dismissed. ReV. R. H. Scroggins was the prosecuting witness in the case.
Commonwealth versus Elias Copeland of Washington, D. C., convicted Monday of drunken driving and resisting arrest; finled $100 and costs and driver’s permit revoked for a period of 12 months; on resisting arrest the fine was $25 and costs. The case was appealed. Sheriff J. M. Lillard was the arresting offioer.
