Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m., with Rev. Isadore D. Richards of Washington, D. C., bringing the Sunday school lesson and morning worship service will follow at 11. a.m., with the new pastor, Rev. Robert C. Davis, delivering the sermon. Following a recess for dinner, a devotional period will be held at 3:30, followed by an address of welcome by Bliss Carroll A. Williams, principal of Scrabble school. At 3:45 the installation sermon will be delivered by Rev. Aaron Mackley, A.B., B.Th., Litt.D., pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist church, Arlington. The charge to the pastor will be, given by Rev. I. D. Richards of Washington, D. C., and the charge to the ch.rch deacon will be by Jessie Pollard of Arlington.
All music for the installation service will be furnished by Mt. Olive choir, chorus, and congregation of Arlington.
Rev. Davis, the new pastor of the First Baptist church of Washington, is a veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. He is a senior student of. Washington Baptist Seminary, in Washington, D. C., and is at present employed by the government. He will hold preaching services in his church two Sundays a month, first and third. Church History
The First Baptist church of Washington was organized in 1873, with Rev. George W. Horner as the first pastor. Forty-five candidates were baptized in the* creek below the church on the day of organization. As far as is known, there are two of the charter members living today: William Cliffih, 94 or 95 years old, and Mrs. Mildred Greep, 86 years old.
