Under New Management
Beginning Saturday, July 1, the Washington Co-operative Fruit Growers, Inc., wlil be under new management, as voted by the stockholders in a meeting June 16. The directors appointed C. E. Johnson, Jr., manager and L. J. Kilby, sales manager. Mrs. B. M. Miller is bookkeeper.
Stockholders present at the meeting June 16 included: Mrs. A. K. Snead, J. E. Keyser, J. A. Keyser, W. C. Campbell, H. B. Winfrey, R. M. Johnson, J. D. Keyser, J. E. Yates, C. J. Miller, Col. B. F. Miller, A. W. Yowell, Mrs. W. P. Slaughter, C. R. Hite, Mrs. Marietta Cheatham, Downing^ Wood, and James DeBergh, proxy for Mrs. E. H. DeBergh. Absent stockholders were J. R. Moore, T. B. Williams, and W. M. Stuart.
Officials elected iwore C. R. Hite, president; Joe D. Keyser, vice-president; and C. E. Johnson, Jr., secretary-treasurer. .
The board of directors, as elected by the stockholders were: J. A. Keyser. C. J. Miller, J. E. YStWI, Downing Wood, and W. C. Campbell.
-Washington Co-operative Fruit Growers, Inc., was organizezd in 1944 and began operation in 1946. C. R. Hite has served as president throughout the hostory of the cooperative. Downing Wood was its first secretary-treasurer. In 1946 W. C. Campbell was appointed treasurer and Lewis J. Turner, secretary. For two years, 1947-48, Jack DeBergh served as secretary.
