Local NFA Chapter Wini

At State Convention

** During the week of June 5-10, tha- O. R. Johnson NFA Chapter oi Carver Regional High School in Culpeper county sent' the following boys to Virginia State College to attend the 23rd Annual Virginia State Association of New Farmers of America:

William Grigsby, Rappahannock delegate; John Francis, Culpeper, delegate; William Phillips, Culpeper, public speaker; Roscoe Ford, Culpeper, livestock judge; Linwood Carpenter, Madison, livestock juJge; David Green, Culpeper, livestock judge; Dixie Taylor, Madison, livestock judge, and Sterling Barrett, Orange, State officer. x .....

As a result of-these boys conscientious participation, the following victories were brought back to the local chapter: t

Elected State Treasurer — William Phillips. -

Elected Modern Farmer—Sterling Barrett.

Recommended to the National Organization for the degree of Superior Farmer —-aGeorge Lindsey.

Judging team won 4th place.

Roscoe Ford was the winner of the Future Farmer of America Foundation Contest in dairy farming and received a check for $25.

In addition to these victories, the members of the O. R. Johnson NFA Chapter were very proud to have the Honorary Modem Farmer Degree and a gold key presented to their superintendent, Mr. P. V. Hounshell.

Roscoe Ford and George Lind- , sey will be sent to the National NFA Convention in Atlanta, Ga., in October by the State Association as a result of their victories in the State contests. They will be accompanied by their agricultural instructor, Mr. O. R. Johnson.

Henry Brent

Henry Brent, 57, of AmissviUe, died suddenly of a heart attack rwhile at work at the American Viscose Corporation in Fr.p.nt Royal Sunday, June 25. fte is the son of Mrs. Louise Brent and the late Mr. Brent.

Funeral services were held at Bethel Baptist church at Amisaville Tuesday afternood, at 2 o'clock, with Rev. L. B. Banks, pastor of the church officiating. Interment was in the Amissville
