All this discussion demands an answer.
It can be explained best by one statement made by a county man: “I saw the names of people I had forgotten were still living in the county.”
Note the name of the paper: Rappahannock News —- not Wash, ington, Sperryville,' Woodville, Flint Hill, Castleton, Huntly, Feola, Slate Mills, F.T., or any of the others alone—it’s the whole county. Our neighboring counties have the same in, the newspaper’s name: Fauquier. Democrat, Warren Sentinel, Page News and Cou. rier, and one of the papers of Culpeper bears the county’s name. Each of these counties has one community which is much larger than any other in the county (Warrenton, Front Royal, Luray, Culpeper) and so the county seat for them is the main part of the 1 news.
In Rappahannock this is not the case. Washington, the county seat, is no larger than Sperryville.
Subways and streetcars don’t keep any of us awake in any community in the county. No sin* gle community is all-powerful, so we are all one county.
