Featuring talks by the nation’s leading home ecnomists, the seminar was attended by representatives of 16 utilities. The latest model electrical appliances were demonstrated and their uses discussed.
Miss Collett attended the seminar as part of the Northern Virginia Power Company’s program bf keeping employes up to date on the most modern methods in all electrical subjects.
Among the speakers were university and college instructors in home economics, directors of home economics for the country’s top appliance manufacturers and representatives of several large utility companies.
Miss Collett also heard electrical appliance experts discuss such topics as “Recent Findings on Freezing Research,” “M o d e r n Laundry Equipment,” “Home Lighting” and “Research in Kitchen Design.”
Research reports compiled by Penn State College were released to those attending. These findings give the latest information on the most effective uses of electric appliances and mill be used as background material by Miss Collett in her-free advisory service for the Northern Virginia Power Co.

D. U. Livermore, poultry marketing specialist at V. P. I., reports that feed and labor costs so far in 1950 have remained close to 1949 levels, while the price received for eggs has taken a substantial drop.
In March, 1950, one dozen eggs would buy only 9.3 pounds of poultry feed as compared to 11.8 pounds in March, 1949-more than 20 percent less.
