Ruffner—Coates
The P. T. Baptist church was th« scene of the wedding of Miss Lucy Virginia Coates, daughter of Mr&. Fred I. Coates and the late Mr. Coates of Etlan, and Jesse Paul Ruffner, son of Mrs. Sallie Ruffner and the late Mr. Ruffner of Catlett, which was solemnized' Saturday evening, June 24, at 8 o’cfock.
The church was decorated with ferns, white lilies and candelabra.
Miss Betty Lynn Graves of Madison played several organ selections, “0 Promise Me,®' and “Because” preceding the ceremony. The “Bridal Chorus” was played at the processional and th# traditional Wedding march at the recessional.
Rev. A. Paul Thompson, pastor of the church officiated at the double ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by " her brother James William Coates, was attired in a white organdy gown, the veil was fastened with pearls and she carried a white testament topped with a white gardenia on which, was attached white lily of the valley streamers.
Mrs. Kirby Hitt of Etlan, sis-' ter of the bride served as ma-— tron of honor. She wore a lavender organdy dress with a poke bonnet and carried a basket of mixed garden flowers.
The junior bride’s maid was Marie Coates who was dressed in pink organdy.
The bride's maids wore organdy dresses, patterned similar to that — worn by the matron of honor. They also wore poke bonnets and carried baskets of mixed flowers.
The bride’s maids were Miss Betty Jane Yowell, who wore yellow organdy, Miss Ivay Lee Hoffman of Manassas, dressed in green organdy, Mrs. Mary E. Mathews pink organdy, and Mrs# John Yowell of Bealeton, was attired in a blue organdy dress.
Mr. Kuffner had as his best man, • Jack Price of Catlett, and the ushers were Ivalie Berryman and Windheld Lawes of Calverton;
