| Adelaide Isabell Sloan, 29, colored, is held in the jail ip Washington on a charge of murder in the death of her brother, William Sloan. No bail has been set.
William Sloan died about 3 O’clock Sunday afternoon from a bullet wound in the brain. His’ sister, Adelaide Sloan, had had unpleasant words with her brothbr during the hours immediately preceding the shooting, and according to reports, she admitted the shooting of her brother and handed the gun to Mrsu Havanna Jeffries, proprietor of the Pine Knot Inn, where the shooting took place.
The Sloans, brother and sister, lived on adjoining farms cn route 627, known as the Battle Creek road, between Route 522 and Laurel <Mills. There had been alleged ill-will between the two at previous times, and reports said that the sister had threatened tp kill her brother.

Adelaide Sloan arrived at the Pine Knot Inn Sunday afternoon and witnesses stated that she was looking for her brother and stating she was going to kill him. As William Sloan came out the door of the Pine Knot Inn, his sister began talking to him. Witnesses say that he started around the east corner of the building and then turned to face his sister, and at this moment three .shots were fired. One shot entered Sloan’s face and lodged in the brain; the second shot entered the shoulder and came out below the waist in his backj the other shot pierced his hand. He fell, face down, and was dead upon examination.
