At “Pleasant View”
Mrs. Will Keyser and her son, J. DeJ. Keyser, entertained at their home “Pleasant View" Sunday, having as their guests Dr. J. S. DeJarnett, Miss R. Hopkins, Miss Minerva Rosen, of Staunton; H. E. DeJarnett of Princeton, W. Va.; Mrs. Marshall, of Front Royal; Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Light and five children, of Arlington; Mrs. J. D. Micks, of Orange; Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, Miss Annie, Harry Stephenson, Miss Evie DeJarnett, of Fredericksburg; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Keyser, -and son John Keyser.
“Pleasant View," the Keyser home was built by a Dr. Strother, in 1739. This date can still be seen on a brick in the chimney.. Dr. Strother was a musician, being very talented in playing the violin. He instructed the builders to construct one room large enough to study and play his violin in. According they built one room 18 feet square, 10 feet high. Dr. Strother said the dimensions of the rest pi the house made no difference to him.
