It mast be admitted, however, that conversation being a luxury, is not essential to our existence. Njither is wine essential to a meal ... although the dictates of medical wisdom have proved that it aids digestion, in spite of its pleasant taste and effects. Let us, of Conversation, make a smooth, sparkling wine, whieh, though not necessary to any int tellectual meal, is a luxury that aids its digestion. And once we have tipped its glass and frit its effects, intelligent conversation should become intoxicatingly habit forming. Thus we shall regain a lost luxury of other ages!
A Week At Powell's

If you're going to do something, you may just as well do it the right way. Believing this to be the most sensible approach, wo decided to literally "rough it.” Accordingly we placed only the barest necessities in three suitcases and a duffle bag.
At camp we immediately set up our “drug store,” as it was tagged by a respectful camper. Merchandise in this store ranged from seven tubes of lipgtick, powder, cold cream and perfume to'Jbandhgeb and merthiolate. Of course,, these articles were not for sale but merely to keep the counselors from looking too much like themselves.
However, later on in the week a candy counter was the rave of the campers for the duration of three boxes of candy.
