Tucked away at the foot of mbuntains
blue Lies a town that we all love. y It recalls our youth, our pleasures, -
too, . Like the love call of the dove.
We enter by way of Ginger Hill And leave by the Fodder Stack, Or turn to the right by Baggarly’s
Mill, All hoping we’ll soon get back.
’Tis said by those who ought to
know - That the Father of Our Land - Laid out the streets through which -we go. — If in youth, walking hand in hand,
You can view Mt. Marshall and'
the Peak, Also the Devil's Gorge. And even now the ladies seek Some man by the name of George.
If you haven’t guessed and must
be told, This place is Washington’s town Which from today—Lo 1 and behold!—
Will be ruled by skirt and gown.
If -gown sounds crude and not so
sweet, We’ll put on a little side, And. instead of gown, say robe-denuit,
* “ ' Which will solace the man who
cried.
So it’s farewell George, and welcome,
Dot. , But we won’t have to change the
. name, For ’twas Martha Washington who
bossed the lot, * Though George gdt all the fame.
