To Farmers In .

Rappahannock County

Some fanners in this part of the State have been selling sod in the past few yean to real estate firms for landscaping new developments.

The Virginia PMA State Committee 'has stated that this is a practice that tends to defeat the purpose of the Agricultural Conservation Program. They have therefore outlined the policy that no assistance can be allowed tinder the 1951 Agricultural Conservation Program to any farmer selling sod in 1951.

This does not mean that farmers who have sold sod in 1950 or previous years are not eligible for assistance under the 1951 Program.

It does mean that if you sell sod from your farm in 1951, you will not be eligible to receive any assistance in 1951. If you should receive conservation materials through the program and then sell sod later in 1951, you will he required to refund to the government the amount of any materials furnished you.
