Telephone Price Increase
To Begin Jimurjr 15,1951
• With application to the State Corporation Commission, the Virginia Telephone and Telegraph Company has announced a price increase in the regular service charges to begin January 15, 1951.
These increases in rates do not affect toll calls, but only the regular charges for telephones.
The new scales, which affects the Washington and Huntly section of the county is listed as follows with .the old rate and the new proposed rate.
Private phone—business, $4.25, $5.70; residence, $2.85, $3.70.
2-party line — business, $3.75, $4.60; residence, $2.60,( $3.VO.
4-party line—Business, $3.25, $3.85; residence, $2.35, $2.60.
Rural—Business, $3.50, $3.85; residence, $2.50, $2.75.
Extension —: Business, $1,25, $1.50; residence, $1.00, $1.10.
This increase in rates does not affect the eastern and southern parts of the county—Sperryville, Woodville, Amissville, Castleton, and Slate Mills—since they are on the C & P Telephone Company exchanges.
