* — Santa Claus has already begun to spread his Christinas cheer aroand the printers at the News office. With the beginning of the paper’s second year, the nicest notes have been arriving. Many of the people we don’t even know, except by their handwriting, but the notes of encouragement and the pleasure they receive from their copies of Rappahannock News is just like so many Christmas presents to the printers. We work hard to have the paper please the readers, and when they take the time and trouble to notify us that they enjoy the paper, we are exactly like a bunch of kids when praised for bringing home a good report card!
For all the lovely thoughts expressed to us at the printing office, in turn, we wish for each of you a very pleasant holiday season and the hope that the coming year will be one of happiness and prosperity for you and all your family and kin.

With the coming- of Christmas Day, again there arises in the hearts of a few of us extreme pity for the few who have to celebrate :*theff birthdays darthe ©n*jiay inthe year when they were going to get a present anyway. One fellow in a neighboring community, whose birthday falls on December 26, insists that he must receive two presents and that it’s not his fault be was born on Christmas Dayl He won’t even let the regular Christmas baking take the place of a birthday cake and has to have a separate one baked. (He’s lucky to be able to get by with all that ordering about of the household.)
