First, tne Annual Banquetmeeting of the Northern Virginia livestock Producers will be held at 6:30 o’clock Thursday evening (today) at the Round Hill Community Hall, located 3 miles west of Virginia, off Route 60. All Rappa- , hannock farmers who have consigned calves to the Winchester Feeder Calf Sale in the past should attend this meeting, and hear Agricultural Commissioner Park C. Brinkley discuss “Grassland Farming.”

Secondly: Representatives of our Angus Breeders Will meet with representatives of the Virginia Aberdeen Angus Association at 12:45 the afternoon of February 2, at Lee Highway Hotel in Sparryville. This is a luncheon meeting . . . . Dave Canning and Charles T. Neale, Secretary and Director respectivelyof the State organisation will be present.

At 1:00 O'clock Friday afternoon, February 9, Virginia Purebred Swine Breeders Association will have their annual winter sale at Farmers’ Livestock Exchange at Winchester. There will be: four Berluhires, 24 Duroc Jerseys, five Hampshires, and eight Poland: Chinas (including both sows and boars). This sale in the past has provided an excellent opportunity for farmers to purchase breeding stock' at very reasonable figures.

On Thursday, February 15, an Agronomy School (all day) will be held at the Middleburg Commu. nity Center, Middleburg, as many of you know, is the location of the Pasture and Forage Crop Experiment Station, donated by Paul Mellon to VPI and of which Dr. Blaser, formerly head of the Agronomy Department of Cornell University is in charge.
' ¥ ¥ ¥ % On February 15 sheep growers „ of this section of Virginia who have handled their wool through the United Wool Growers Associ- . ation Inc., will have a luncheon meeting beginning at 10 o’clock in the morning at Lord Culpeper Hotel, Culpeper. Purpose of this meeting is to elect district directors. Rappahannock^ is in District 7 which also includes Orange, Culpeper, Madison, Albemarle, Page and Greene counties. In addition advance information on wool price is expected.

Rappahannock orchardists will be hosts at an Area Fruit School to be held in Sperryville school auditorium Friday, March 2. A larger display of orchard equipment and more demonstrations , than we have had previously are being planned ^alsq there will be discussions on insect and disease control. During the latter part of March a Drainage . . . Home Water Supply meeting will be held in Washington, to include a demonstration on dynamite ditching by a representative of the Dupont Co.
