It's A Hard'Job
In anticipation of those who sure going o say that the present achbol buildings are "better than the ones of former days and teach less," there are a few facts to be presented.
In 1870, when the public school system was inaugurated in Virginia, the men who set it up were products of private-sehool days and., graduates of William and Mary land University of Virginia. They patterned the schools by what they knew: the old academic instruction of grammar and Latin. A larger part of the older generation grew up under this schooling and today they think education a failure if the graduate cannot show some background in such.
