Fruits—tppki, oranges, aw?

grapefruits—will be found on February markets in generous quantities, Miss Sollenberger home •gent, reports. y

Basing her statements on USDA plentiful foods list for the southeast for February, the agent says vegetables on the list include Irish potatoes, swleet-potatoes, onions, and sauerkraut.

The Irish- potato crop for 1950 totaled about 440,000,000 bushels. Main sources of supply in February wilL be Maine, Idaho, Minne■ sota, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Colorado.

Increased egg supplies are expected to show up on February markets, and for an attractive meat buy, the home agent suggests broilers and fryers. Turkeys and fish are other meats on the plentiful foods list for the month. Cottage cheese, peanut butter, and honey also will be plentiful.

Instead of a wedge of cheese on the plate with apple pie, or grated cheese on top, how about melted cheese? After the pie is baked, lay thin slices of cheese or sprinkled grated cheese over the top. Then put the pie in a very moderate oven until the cheese is melted. Serve at once.
