ON CONSOLIDATION
No community will ever go back to the one room school. Times have changed. After the supply of a few local teachers is ex* hausted, there will be no teacher to go into these one room schools. Ask any superintendent, supervisor, or other person in the school business about what success he is having with teacher replacements in the one room schooL,
A young teacher with any ability at all will not accept a position in a one or two room school in an isolated community when other schools are eager for her services in far more desirable teaching situations.
Over consolidation may have its attendant evils, but this problem cannot be solved by any auch over-simplification as a return to the horse and buggy days of education. A return to the one room school may be classified as' a pleasant, nostalgic thought. The little red school house of blessed memory is gone, along with other hallowed traditions of the "good ole days."—Bystander.
