Jim Swan 'Day
Set For February 22
An old established custom is being continued by the son of his famous father as J. Douglas Swan and J. A. Swan, Jr., & Co., bring “Swan’s Day” to Culpeper on February 22. Definite facts cannot be located, but it is thought that this custom of a .business being host to the farmers of Culpeper and Rappahannock and other adjoining counties goes back about 30 years. Many present farmers recall attending these days in town when they were youngsters;
The program of the day will include the exhibition of the famous New Oliver tractor, cut in two, to show the entire workings of the inside. This is the first time this “cut-in-two” tractor has been on exhibit in the state. Other entertainment will be free movies and a ticket drawing to give away ten handsome prizes.

Violinist Gives Concert
In Culpeper Friday
Stephan Hero, internationally famous violinist, will give a concert in Culpeper tomorrow night, (Friday, February 16), at 8:15 in the school auditorium in the town. This is the second in a series of three concerts offered by the Culpeper chapter of the Virginia Orchestra Guild. . Attendance is by membership only, but opportunity is offered to join now and attend three concerts , this spring. This membership is available because Orange county is organizing a chapter and membership subscription of $3 is'open until Friday afternoon. A membership card now would, entitle the holder to attend the violin concert in Culpeper and the two concerts to be given by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra later in the spring, one in Culpeper4 and one in Orange. Reservations for these tickets can be made at Rappahannock News office (phone Washington-2851) today o taly, since the ticket sale end! tomorrow afternoon.
